How did you first encounter the Newberry?

The first in-depth encounter I had was as small assistant professor teaching a graduate-level German literature orbit at the University of Illinois Chicago. I would describe myself as an interdisciplinary humanist. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on Francis Bacon’s New Atlantis (), and I thought I would continue with Bacon in graduate school.
